Saint Jude

Daily prayer
to St. Jude

O kindSaint-Jude, our faithful intercessor to Jesus, receive the following special intentions : to present them to the Almighty Lord, Root of all good. Above all, grant us an increase of our faith in His love. May each day find us closer in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. KindSaint-Jude, you who has revived hope in our hearts, you whose model merits and life bring us the divine blessings and graces, be our advocate, and lead us to Jesus and Mary. With you, blessed apostle, we give thanks and praise God with all our heart for His innumerable kindnesses. Amen.

What if it was true…

by Fr. Jacques Lauzier, OP

Tell me, what if it was true
That He was really born in Bethlehem, in a manger,
What if it was true
That the Wise Men really came from afar
To bring Him gold, myrrh and incense
What if it was true
What if Luke, Matthew and the other two wrote was true
What if the event at the wedding in Cana was true
And what happened to Lazarus
What if it was true
What if what they tell children was true
At night, before going to bed
You know, when they say Our Father
When they say Hail Mary
What if all of that was true
I would say yes
Oh, certainly I would say yes
Because all of that is so wonderful
When we believe that it's true.

Jacques Brel, 1958

Well, I have some "good news" for you: IT IS TRUE!

It is all true what they told us about Jesus; about what happened to Him. It's true that He accepted to leave His Father's nice, comfortable, heavenly house to come to our world of miseries, in this "valley of sorrows. His miraculous birth in Bethlehem is also true.

The events at the wedding in Cana, as well as what happened to Lazarus, were not lies. Neither was His death on the cross. But to believe in this "madness", whe have to uncover the heart we had as children. That same heart that says Our Father with such faith and abandonment; a heart that only a child can possess. Anyway, isn't only with a heart that dares to say "Abba", that we can enter the Kingdom? So, let us prepare ourselves to remove the dust from that child's heart that we have put away in our adult closet, so that we can greet the One who, big as He was, made himself childlike... to die for love, so that we can learn to love...just as He has loved us.
Oh yes, all of this is so wonderful!

"You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger." (Lk 2, 12)
