Saint Jude

Daily prayer
to St. Jude

O kindSaint-Jude, our faithful intercessor to Jesus, receive the following special intentions : to present them to the Almighty Lord, Root of all good. Above all, grant us an increase of our faith in His love. May each day find us closer in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. KindSaint-Jude, you who has revived hope in our hearts, you whose model merits and life bring us the divine blessings and graces, be our advocate, and lead us to Jesus and Mary. With you, blessed apostle, we give thanks and praise God with all our heart for His innumerable kindnesses. Amen.

The Monthly Note

June 2016

In the liturgical calendar of the Church, each day of the year we could celebrate several saints. This month, June 24, we happily emphasize the feast of St. John the Baptist, that Pope Saint Pius X appointed Patron saint of French Canadians, then the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul on June 29.

Saint Paul wrote: "Let us take a comparison: for just as the body is one and has many members, and all members, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. ... You are the body of Christ and individually members of it." ( I Corinthians 12:12,27 ).

In the Body of Christ, we cannot separate the Head, Jesus Christ, and the members, the baptized. The lives of the saints present many examples that we are called to imitate: this is what we seek most often in their lives or their writings. They are witnesses of the Good News of Jesus Christ which resulted in the particular conditions of the lives of each one.

As we pray in the preface of the Mass of the saints: "Lord, you are praised in the company of your Saints and, in crowning their merits, you crown your own gifts. By their way of life you offer us an example, by communion with them you give us companionship, by their intercession, sure support, so that, encouraged by so great a cloud of witnesses, we may run as victors in the race before us and win with them the imperishable crown of glory, through Christ our Lord.''

Christ creates a spiritual solidarity among us, "the communion of saints." The love we have for the others, we carry it in praying for our brothers and sisters who have gone before us. In this communion of Saints, we who are in this life, we pray for each other; we pray also for our deceased who are adapting to the holiness of God. The saints do not need our intercession, but with the charity that comes from God, they continue to intercede for us.

In this spirit, each "Thursday to St. Jude" at the 2:30 pm Mass, the Dominicans of Montreal pray with you St. Jude to intercede for you, dear brothers and sisters, and to all the prayer intentions that you send us by mail, email, or put near the statue of the Saint of Hope. Let us remain united in prayer,
