A time of amazement and thanksgiving
by Fr. Émery Désilets, OP
«There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens».
A time to watch over and a time to be amazed;
A time to greet and a time to give thanks
(from Ec. 3, 1-8)
Summer, and especially the month of July, period of vacations, is certainly a favoured time to be amazed and give thanks. We have to bless the Lord for the wonders of Creation. Inspired by the psalms, a prayer, by nature, helps us to put into words our amazement and thanksgiving: lets us greet it as a gift.
Blessed are you, Lord, for all these wonders that surround us and that are a reflection of your
beauty, your wisdom and your might.
Blessed are you, Lord, who has created the fruits of the Earth and who feeds all living beings.
Blessed are you, Lord, for the immense sea and for everything that lives in it.
Blessed are you, Lord, for the birds and their pleasing songs. May our life be a song of praise to You.
Blessed are you, Lord, who has created the majestic sun and who draws beautiful pictures of lights and colours in the sky.
Blessed are you, Lord, who has created the moon and the stars. The heavens proclaim your glory, the sky tells us of your might.
Blessed are you, Lord, for the light of fire and for its warmth. Help us live as children of the light by bearing the fire of your Love to all the world.
To you, praise and Glory forever. Amen.
Lord, we thank you for such a beautiful world and for your love that this world is a reflection of.
P.S. Since June 1st, the buildings where the Shrine was located are now permanently closed. The religious activities have now been transferred to our conventual church located at 2715 Cote Saint Catherine Rd, Montreal. The Thursday mass in honour ofSaint-Jude will continue to be regularly celebrated and the Dominicans will continue to intercede toSaint-Jude in your name and offering your petitions. Remember that «nothing will be impossible for God ".
