Saint Jude

Daily prayer
to St. Jude

O kindSaint-Jude, our faithful intercessor to Jesus, receive the following special intentions : to present them to the Almighty Lord, Root of all good. Above all, grant us an increase of our faith in His love. May each day find us closer in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. KindSaint-Jude, you who has revived hope in our hearts, you whose model merits and life bring us the divine blessings and graces, be our advocate, and lead us to Jesus and Mary. With you, blessed apostle, we give thanks and praise God with all our heart for His innumerable kindnesses. Amen.

The Summer that God loves

by Benoît Lacroix, o.p.

«Look at the birds in the sky, think of the flowers growing in the fields…»  Matthew 6,26

Summer is spring’s victory. It means that spring celebrates the roots, while summer celebrates the stems, the trees at their best, the fields of corn, the haymaking…

Summer, means rest for some, a way to go slower for others, vacations for schools.

For many, older, less in shape, or even very sick people, the season is maybe one where we try to offer little services, a smile, or the other way to think of others in a positive way.

The summer that God loves? Wasn’t it Him that created it when He creates all the seasons… Isn’t He the Master of Time and Seasons? From the first book of the Bible, summer is present. I quote the first chapter of Genesis: «God said, 'Let the earth produce vegetation each corresponding to its own species. God saw that it was good..» In the sacred book of Proverbs, I read : « The ant, all through the summer, gets her food ready.» And also « Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent.»

Because of summer weather, because of the sun that sometimes permits itself to warm us… because of summer nights known for their serene beauty, we could say that God loves summer for another very simple reason : because in summer , maybe we will have the time to thank Him more often, to calmly pray Him in faith and mostly to admire this season that has such good revues, (therefore «Good News») because it favours a better chance to congratulate God… for having invented summer!
