The Monthly Note
March 2015
by Henri de Longchamp, OP
It's Lent. Let me share an experience. I was invited in a family and the 12 years old boy asked me point-blank: ''What will you to do for Lent?'' Taken by surprise, watching his parents, just as surprised, I replied: "Try to love others better and pray more. How about you? »
The young replied: "Every Friday evening, at dinner, we will fast and we will give the money we save to help the poors." This had never been discussed in the family ! The family did it for Lent, happy to put into practice what the Church invites us to do and what a 12 years old had understood and integrated.
Today, a child, an adult, a saint or the Church can present to us the Lord Jesus. He/she can invite us to understand and live better the Gospel, God's Good News for us today. It is in the actions and the words of Christ that we discover to be God's beloved children, and that we have brothers and sisters. In this Lent, our way to Easter, the Lord is with us, as He took our humanity so that we may share his divinity.
Saint Jude, you are the SAINT OF HOPE,
direct us always to Christ, to his message
that is full of life, hope and fraternity.
Saint Jude, Patron Saint of Hopeless cases,
pray to God for us!
Rest assured, dear Friends of Saint Jude, that we read all your letters, e-mails and the prayer intentions put near the statue of Saint Jude, in the church of the Dominican Friars. Every Thursday of Saint Jude, we pray for you and mass is celebrated for all your prayer intentions.
